Since the text is dense, I think we should move through the text slowly. My thought is that we can spend 2 weeks on each chapter. This may change depending on the difficulty of the chapter, and our interest in the chapter.
This week we are reading the preface (not the preface to the english edition). If you want to read the preface to the english edition by all means do and post comments about it. I just wanted to say that I am starting with the actual preface.
My thought is that we would begin reading the introduction: repetition and difference on Oct 13th (Monday). Of course feel free to start reading ahead of time. I would just like to discuss the preface first. I was thinking that instead of posting about the entire chapter all at once, that instead, we could take the chapter section by section (as outlined in the table of contents). How does that sound? I thought it might be helpful to discuss each section of the chapter to help some of us along who are having a trouble with it.
I don't want to set a date for chapter 1 yet, because I want to see how the preface/introduction discussion goes, in order to see how much time we need to dedicate to them. A lot of it will be trial and error as we go along through the book. I apologize for this. Hopefully as we move along, we will see what works and what doesn't. Thank you for your patience.
For the preface and introduction, please post on the Preface/Introduction board. Thanks. And be clear in the subject title what you will be talking about (such as section name or theme).
Here are links to the preface and introduction (thanks stondibe!!!):
